The corner of North Tryon and Mallard Creek Church Road got hot

11.25.2008
Last week brought two announcements for properties at the corner of Highway 29 and Mallard Creek Church Rd. Bank of America has purchased 24 acres on the west side, near Pinnacle’s project, or $7.7 million. Although the Charlotte Business Journal article speculated that the bank might want to build satellite offices as they had in Ballantyne, there was no confirmation. On the heels of that announcement came news that OrthoCarolina had bought a 3.5 acre site, also at North Tryon and Mallard Creek Church Rd.. Their medical office building would be completed in 2010 although they are considering purchasing another 1.5 acres.

Both announcements noted their proximity to light rail. CATS engineering is looking at possibly locating the rail station further to the east on an additional 100 acres owned by the University.
